The Borno State Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sport was created in 1982 as Ministry Social Development, Youth and Sport. In the year 2003, the Social Development and Youth were detached from the Ministry and was named as Ministry of Sports Affairs. In 2019 Youth Empowerment was integrated into what is now known as the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
- To create an enabling environment for the youth to actively participate and contribute to the transformation and socio-economic development of the state.
- To ensure all citizens are provided with the opportunity to be involved in sports and recreation at all levels in order to realize their full potential and improve their quality of life.
- Creating and Liaising with different youth empowerment scheme and ensuring maximum involvement of the youths in the state.
